As a volunteer with Ace Africa Kenya, you will contribute to the activities which support community work. This includes every aspect of our work, from baseline, project implementation and monitoring, endline and fundraising efforts for community work with beneficiaries in Kenya.
Staff and Volunteer Approach
Ace Africa Kenya has a staff of 77. The organisation aims, where possible to employ and engage local staff and volunteers to undertake the roles needed to deliver its programmes.

Recruitment Process
Volunteers are recruited based on need within the various projects being implemented across the 9 counties in Kenya. There are three main cycles of recruitment in January, April and August every year. A volunteer is expected to commit to a minimum of three (3) months. Continuity as a volunteer will depend on the needs of the project and provision of the Kenyan labour laws. We are keen to hear from people who have expertise that contributes to our cause and can submit their applications (a cover letter and CV) to resources@ace-africa.org.
All volunteer applications are assessed on their own individual merits and potential volunteers attend an interview. Ace Africa K recruitment (board, paid staff, volunteers and consultants) abides by diversity and equality policy. Volunteer Roles Volunteer
Volunteer role is determined by the needs of specific project and duration. The exact role of volunteer period will be discussed at the interview stage but is likely to include assistance with data collection, provision of technical advice to community beneficiaries based on your expertise and experience and report writing.
Formal Agreement
ACE Africa (Kenya) shall enter into a written and signed agreement with a volunteer. This agreement shall be drawn by ACE Africa (Kenya).
Induction and Training
All newly engaged volunteers receive an induction into Ace Africa, their immediate supervisors, policies, field and administrative systems and where necessary training in their own area of work. Volunteers will also be inducted in the community with beneficiaries, structures and leadership in order to deliver on their mandates. Volunteers will be provided with regular supervision to feedback on progress and discuss any concerns.
Volunteer Expenses
Volunteers will be supported with field travel expenses to the community to undertake the various activities as outlined in their task description
Volunteer Identification
While performing assigned task of the organ, all volunteers shall be identified as volunteers of ACE Africa (Kenya).
Volunteer Safety and Health
A volunteer shall take out a medical and safety cover covering the period of her volunteer with Ace Africa (Kenya).
Complaint Procedure
Volunteers/inters are encouraged to talk to their immediate supervisor if they have any complaint. If the complaint is not resolved, it should be referred to the Head of Programmes Ace Africa Kenya.
Confidentiality
Volunteers will be bound by the same requirements for confidentiality as board members and paid staff. Details will be provided to volunteers.
Volunteer Performance
ACE Africa (Kenya) shall appraise a volunteer’s performance using its formal appraisal methods.
The appraisals are intended to: clarify any issues that may arise with respect to Volunteering with Ace Africa K, and direct to volunteer to future activities.
