Malaria

Malaria is still a major public health and socio-economic problem in Kenya and rated among the top ten causes of death. Currently, it is the 2nd cause of death after pneumonia in the country. In 2017, 17,533 people died of malaria (KNBS 2018 Economic Survey). Communities particularly those living in western Kenya have an especially high risk of malaria (CDC). Ace Africa works with communities and the health sector (public and private) to provide malaria prevention education, provide Insecticide Treated Nets (ITNs) and referrals to treatment.

Pregnant women and children under five are most  at risk of succumbing to malaria. Prevalence in high in Nyanza, Western and Coast regions in Kenya.
